"Throwing" a pot

There will be an extensive educational program delivered by qualified teaching staff this will include weekend taster courses in ceramics, china painting and art. These taster sessions will be in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and will consist of small groups with plenty of one to one tuition.

There will be an Introduction to Ceramics course at Nantgarw sponsored by Glamorgan Outreach, this will be a twelve week course and will be an excellent route to discover the wonder full world of ceramics.

Duration: 12 weeks
Fees: £30, or fee waiver

Weekend Taster courses (dates to be arranged)

Ceramics: This will be an opportunity to develop your skills in a number of areas; there will be a chance to learn how to throw on the wheel and cover some basic hand building techniques. All work produced during the course can be glazed at a later date to give you a well refined piece of work to take home.

10-4~ £65 This will include some basic materials; further materials can be purchased during the course.

China Painting: This course will give you the chance to create your own design on piece of china of your own choice; basic painting materials will be provided you will be able to purchase the piece of china you wish to paint on the day. The work will then be fired in the kiln to be collected within two weeks. This course is suitable for all ages and is a really good family activity. Children however must be accompanied by an adult.

10.00 - 13.00 £30 Introduction to china painting, this is suitable for all ages and abilities.
10.00 - 13.00 £65  China painting for those who have some experience, not suitable for children under the age of ten.

Art Classes: This will be an opportunity to improve your drawing and painting skills and is suitable for all abilities.

10.00 - 13.00 £30 This will include basic drawing materials. A materials list will be given on booking.

All classes will be provided with light refreshments (tea and coffee) classes that are a full day will need to bring a packed lunch.
